Are women a “dish”? Why do people always judge the outside appearances of women? Women are treated as if they are something to both gazes at and consume. The figure in the middle is praying to avoid becoming the fish and carrot in the background. I use this painting to address gender inequality and the social pressure that society puts on women. People judge others based on their appearances and do not try to understand who others truly are, especially women.
I used thick acrylic paint to create textures of the fish and carrots and the scales on the woman’s body. I selected bright colors to create an intense atmosphere and contrasted them with dark colors to create depth for each layer.
