I was inspired by the cozy life of middle-aged retirees in China. From the dawn of civilization to now, China has had many tea houses. People like to chase away their boredom here — they chat, play card games, eat, and drink.


I used mostly palette knives for this piece in order to replicate the casual atmosphere of a tea house. I also used small brushes to outline the fine details. It is such a normal life, yet each person has their own story to tell. They accumulate in this place to entertain themselves and find peace in the tedium of society.
