Dreams are a free consciousness of humans floating on a journey in unreal space. I tried to capture the wandering yet profound images of humans in the dream world. In the dream world, we can illuminate many shadows of reality, which is also the reason why the middle man is without a head, but underneath the body, there is a chopped-off fish head – a connection between illusion and reality.

In this acrylic painting, I’m exploring the balance between colors. I started with many bright colors for the background, trying to create a psychedelic style that represents the illusion of dreams. Before adding in all of the details, I poured different colors of paint on the white canvas, and the paint smoothly blended in without any support. After painting out the figure's body, I used a palette knife – a way to texturize – and painted the fish and the corresponding fish basket underneath.
